AI for Learning
Student Design Club

A student experience of exploring and influencing AI in education

What We're About

At Atypical, we focus on creating safe, fun, and science-based learning experiences. Our AI-native solutions are grounded in proven learning science, making education more accessible, equitable, and effective for everyone. We believe AI can be used to make connections across people, topics, and contexts, to support lifelong learning. To do this, we center the voices of educators and learners, building tools that create your vision of the future of learning.

Learn and Build Together

We invite high school students to join us in exploring how they think AI should be used to support their learning. As we build tools that empower students to learn in their own unique ways, we want their voices and lived experiences to inform our work. We also want students to have a space to develop and express their own perspectives on how AI should be used in education. Our AI for Learning Design Clubs can be run in collaboration with a school or youth organization, online or possibly in person.

As part of this program high school students will:

  • Share ideas about how they want to use AI for learning
  • Give input on AI tools in development by Atypical AI
  • Explore ways to make AI tools more relevant and authentic for their learning

Students commit to:

  • Participating in weekly or biweekly design and feedback sessions
  • Sharing their ideas with other members of the Atypical AI team
  • Creating content for other student users of the tool

Students will gain:

  • A deeper understanding of AI, and its benefits and challenges
  • Experience in product design with a tech startup
  • Artifacts for their portfolios such as product designs, educational resources, etc.
